A Call to the Deceased’s attending Dr will need to be made for issue of Death Certificate and call a Funeral Home to transfer deceased.

Police will need to be called in this circumstance and if death is deemed suspicious, Deceased may require transferring to the Coroners for determination of Cause of Death (this may involve an autopsy, Coroners Court will explain procedure to NOK/Family). If Death has taken place in a Nursing Home or Aged Care Facility, staff Notify NOK/Family and will call Deceased’s attending Dr for issue of DC and will arrange transfer of Deceased with your Nominated Funeral Director

Nominated Funeral Home will need to be contacted in order to make an Appointment to discuss Funeral Arrangements with a Funeral Consultant.

Discuss options (Funeral Service) with Funeral Consultant/Director – i.e. Religious / No Religious Service, church, chapel etc, cars, flowers, advertising, music provider, printing of OServices etc. Discuss Costs and ask for a Funeral Quotation. If Deceased had a Funeral Insurance or PrePaid Funeral Plan this is to be advised to the Funeral Director at time of Arrangement.

Funeral Home will arrange Embalming if required and dressing of Deceased.
Family to supply Clothing to Funeral Home for this (Optional/family may wish to dress).
Funeral Home (Mortuary Professional) will prepare Deceased for Viewing if this is decided on.

Funeral Home Consultant will discuss and liaise with you and will confirm all the Bookings with the Church/Chapel, Cemetery or Crematorium.

Funeral Director can assist with this by providing you with options re Venues, and contact details for Wake Arrangements.

Centrelink (where applicable), banks or financial institutions, solicitors, electoral office, Utilities, roads and maritime services, city council, health insurance

The Funeral Director will apply to Registry of Deaths, Births, and Marriages once the funeral has taken place and the certificate will be issued and sent via registered mail to the nominated Next of Kin.

Certificates usually take anywhere between 7-15 days to be issued and posted.
